MC2 Post 1155 Is 2012 Really The End? It Is For TV

"TV" As We Now Know It,

because Folks  Things Are A-Changing

Part is Due to the Ghostly Prediction in Steve Jobs  BIO saying He'd Found the Interface Answer he'd been looking for to "Fix" the Problem with Televison and it "Answers to the name "Siri".  And it will be featured in Apple's Next-Big-Thing, the Apple TV.

How soon before we see this Fourth Killer Thingy from Apple?

Maybe the fourth quarter of 2012.

And Are TV MFG's scared of being left behind ???

Absolutely.

So CES will have everything TV MFG's can throw everything at the wall to stave off  "Apple" from jumping to the "Front of a New Line" Again.

There's going to be a lot of TV talking (talking to the TV) and Hand waving (Waving at the TV to navigate an assortment of Menus to access All-Kinds-of-APPS) going on at next Week's CES.

=====================

Lots of MFG's are jumping to make the next Google TV.

Windows is going to remind us the Xbox and Kinect already can listen to you and can follow your gestures.

They've even demoed it on the

Windows 7:

Streaming is going to get serious, even if some of the early

entry's have "stupid names" like

Roku's Streaming Stick.

Just Stick it into a Free HDMI input.
Kinda like a USB stick.

Roku Streaming Stick: 400 channels of video,
zero wires.

The Streaming Stick uses a protocol called Mobile Hi-Def Link, or MHL, which lets it draw power and connectivity right from the HDMI port. There aren’t a whole lot of MHL-capable TVs out there right now, but support is growing and the specification should be widespread before too long (it’s already being adopted by Sony, Samsung, and Toshiba, as well as the Best Buy brand Insignia).
