MY Favorite Christmas Movies

Patrick Stewart as Scrooge.
Jim Carrey as Scrooge.
Bill Murray as Scrooge.
A Christmas Carol eBOOK.
Scrooge McDuck

A Great Story, like Charles Dicken's "A Christmas Carol" can be told
in many ways and still come out Fresh.  These three adapted Movies still hold the wonder of Dicken's story.  Of course most of dialog in the first two are straight from Dickens himself and so has a very familiar ring.

Humbug !

Stories of this era were most often read aloud.

In fact, I watched the Jim Carrey animation on Netflix.

Part of their agreement with Starz

and thus Disney too.

If you haven't seen it, it's a must see.

The CG animated FX's are A-Mazng.

Netflix has the rights for only

a few more months.

MC2 Post 1143 What IS Faster than the Speed of Light

Usually I Post this Kind of Stuff on my Dark Side of Matter Blog, but it's become pretty Regular Tech Topical
and it's just too Cool.

This Year, maybe a couple of things.

Scientists Report Second Sighting of Faster-Than-Light Neutrinos

Two months after scientists reported that they had clocked subatomic particles known as neutrinos going faster than the speed of light, to the astonishment and vocal disbelief of most of the world’s physicists, the same group of scientists, known as Opera, said on Friday that it had performed a second experiment that confirmed its first results and eliminated one possible explanation for how the experiment could have gone wrong.

===================================

Faster-than-Light Neutrinos could be Proof of Extra Dimensions

The recent announcement that neutrinos had been observed seemingly going faster than the speed of light sent shockwaves through the physics community. But there's one possible explanation that could keep Einstein's relativity intact and open up a whole new cosmos.

Now, a Superfast Camera that Captures the Speed of Light!

PTI Dec 19, 2011, 12.50pm IST

LONDON: Believe it or not, scientists have developed a superfast camera, the size of a dustbin, which can capture the speed of light.

Prof Ramesh Raskar at the MIT Media Lab told 'The Sunday Times': "With our ultra-fast imaging we can actually analyse how the photons are travelling through the world."

The camera can also create 3D images because it is capable of "seeing" photons oflight even inside objects, say the scientists.

The device was made by adapting a "streaker tube" -- used by chemists to scan and capture light. It can record the progress of light pulses through a flask of liquid. Each still picture had a shutter speed of 1.7 picoseconds -- a trillionth of a second.

MC2 Post 1141 ANDROID POLICE Root the Kindle Fire

Kindle Fire Root reignited, beats 6.2.1 update

TinyURL:  http://tinyurl.com/7k56w3v

===================================

Amazon's latest attempt to lock down root access on its Kindle Fire has been, well, routed. It took the tinkerers mere days to catch up and the new root file is now up for grabs, courtesy of Android Police and a few good devs. The method is app-based and looks to be disarmingly simple, but the usual warnings apply; mess up those software internals and bam, you've voided your warranty. Those still willing to dabble can find the full details at the source link below.
