A Lot of TO-DO About the Launch of

Raspberry PI...

No...Not This One !!!

THIS ONE !!!

Raspberry Pi Retailers

Toppled by Demand as

$35 Linux Computer Launches

The Raspberry Pi Foundation Apologized for the Launch Problems on Twitter

The Raspberry Pi foundation attempted to launch its $35 Linux computer on Tuesday evening, but the organization's retail partners couldn't cope with the massive demand. Two British electronic component distributors that intended to sell the product were unable to do so--their websites went down, succumbing to the stampede of eager enthusiasts who sought to purchase the hotly-anticipated system.

The product is a bare board with a 700MHz ARM11 CPU and 256MB of RAM. It's roughly the size of a deck of playing cards and has a powerful GPU that is reportedly competitive with that of modern smartphones. Developer prototypes of the product have been shown running impressive graphics demos and decoding high-definition video.

Celebrate Leap Day with WinISO for free
===================================

From:  http://betanews.com

Turn to a specialist tool, though, and it’s a very different story. WinISO in particular is one of the most powerful image management packages around, providing everything you need to create, open, edit, extract, convert and otherwise work with a variety of CD, DVD and Blu-ray disc image formats. And while it’s normally priced at $29.95, this Wednesday you can obtain a full copy of your own for no charge at all.
--------------

If WinISO sounds like the kind of tool you need, then head along to the Downloadcrew Giveaway site any time between 00:00 and 23:59 (Central European Time) on Wednesday February 29th to get your copy (Americans can start their downloads at 6 pm ET on February 28 -- lucky you!). But please note that download itself is just the 30-day trial. You must also create a free account if you don’t have one already, log in and click “Get serial code” to obtain the license that will turn the trial into a full version.

MWC 12: Samsung to Compete with Tegra on Quad-Core CPU

While details are still sparse as we await the official start of Mobile World Congress in Barcelona tonight/tomorrow, it appears that Samsung plans to announce a new quad-core processor as part of its Exynos line. It will be the first Samsung SoC based on 32nm technology rather than the 45nm currently in production and will be available in both quad- and dual-core variant.

According to the story over at Unwiredview it will be available in frequencies ranging from 200 MHz all the way up to 1.5 GHz while offering lower power consumption than current options.

MC2 Post 1202 Why TV is even More Broken in The Netherlands

Even with a Very Bad Week-and-a-Half Cold
I have to Keep Hacking about THIS:

TV IS DYING !!!

From:  http://www.osnews.com

An interesting anecdote at MinimalMac about television being broken. The author's young daughter, who is growing up in a Netflix/Hulu/iTunes/etc. household, was confronted with actual TV for the first time, and wonders why she can't pick what to watch, why the shows are being
interrupted all the time, and so on.

Clearly - TV is broken.

MC2 Post 1201 Fraunhofer's Full-HD Voice Sounds Like a GOOD Idea

Fraunhofer's Full-HD Voice brings High Fidelity VoLTE to Android Smartphones

Consumers will experience audio quality that rivals the experience of chatting face-to-face.

Technically speaking, it's said the codec offers four times the audio bandwidth of regular phone calls and twice the bandwidth of HD voice services, all without an increase in bit rate.

Google Developing Augmented Reality
Android HUD Glasses

Google is clearly trying to push its Android operating system in new directions. Only yesterday we reported about a lapdock mode found in Android 5.0 Jelly Bean. It allows you to replace everything but the large display in your laptop case with a smartphone. Now we’ve heard about another new direction for Android: augmented reality glasses.

According to insiders at Google, glasses that run Android are being developed that allow the wearer to see a Head-Up Display. The glasses have their very own 3G/4G connection, meaning they can potentially replace a smartphone. Navigation is also novel and requires head movements such as tilting to perform actions. There’s sure to be voice control too.

MC2 Post 1199 Google Gives us the Hertz and The Street Pundits Put the Hurt on DELL

Heinrich Hertz

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinrich Rudolf Hertz (February 22, 1857 – January 1, 1894) was a German physicist who clarified and expanded the electromagnetic theory of light that had been put forth by James Clerk Maxwell.

He was the first to conclusively prove[1] the existence of electromagnetic waves by engineering  instruments to transmit and receive radio pulses using experimental procedures that ruled out all other known wireless phenomena.

Why Is The Street Giving DELL Hell

Fromhttp://www.minyanville.com

Is Dell Really an Enterprise Company?

The Numbers Say No.

They Do (partly) blame the Thailand floods and the impact on  enterprise level storage.  But interest in PC market has been on a slump before that, honestly.  tPads and low-end sector grabbing Amazon and B&N took some of that to a lower level.

Linux Top 5: SCO Returns

"Here we are in 2012 and SCO is still pursuing its legal actions against IBM. A hearing iscurrently set for April 23rd to pursue that same litigation that SCO started out on 9 years ago against IBM.

While it is shocking that this case still is a going concern, over the last 9 years, lots has changed in the Linux landscape. New Linux distros like Ubuntu have come forward and the dominance of Linux in many areas of computing is now well known. On the other hand, SCO remains a bankrupt zombie husk, with no assets, no real prospects and no future.

MC2 Post 1198 Google Sows Antenna Farm in Iowa

Google is Not Just in Kansas Anymore...

Google announced earlier this month that it was gearing up to start laying fiber-optic lines from Kansas to Missouri in a project focusing on creating higher-speed Internet access.

Now, the Web giant is setting it sights on Iowa, according to Data Center Knowledge.

In a small city of Council Bluffs, Google Fiber is looking to erect a satellite antenna farm on a 1,000-acre track of land near its data center. If all goes according to Google's plans, the antennas would receive feeds from broadcast networks and even be bundled with the high-speed fiber service, according to Data Center Knowledge.
