The BIG Apple Apology by Wingman...

==========================
The BIG Apology by Wingman...
==========================

Many, many Years ago I stated uncategorically : "Nobody needs 30,000 songs in their pocket. Not even Mozart."
I was, of course, berating the iPod and the $30,000 dollars that music would cost to Put In an iPod.

Today, after over a year Owner of the iPod Touch 2G, I feel compelled to state uncategorically :

"I Was Wrong!". And: "I apologized..."

The incredible device called the iPhone and in my case, the iPod Touch has "Changed my TUNE.".

I've never been a "FanBoy" for Apple. Especially since they've built their beautiful machine on top of BSD, not Linux. But even Nokia knows what's Really Under the Hood, even if Apple doesn't Say The Name: Linux.

The logic behind the cost-factor still applies, but the Gadget Store, and the Linux-Based iPhone Hack has turned the Tide. This is Not Your Grand-Dad's Newton...

This is Something Different. The Cross Platform Game Changer pundits have been giving "Lip-Service" to for oh-so-many years.

The Wonder of Wonders is Apple's Second Grand Slam in a Row. The First was of course, the iTunes Store. And the Second: The Gadget Store, and the Billion Plus Apps that changes your pocket computer into what-ever you want.

Brilliant.

Thank you Steve Jobs for okaying this Process.

Wingman, humbled by gadgetry again...

Nokia's New Booklet 3G "mini laptop"

----------------------------------------------------
from engadget story:
----------------------------------------------------

It has an Atom processor and 10.1-inch display, but that screen is higher res than your average Eee, and it also sports integrated 3G wireless and a hot-swappable SIM card, so it's definitely trying to define its own niche. It looks to be running Windows 7, which isn't particularly netbooky, and also has integrated A -GPS with a copy of Ovi Maps, HDMI output, a rated 12 hour battery life, and the usual Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, all in a 2cm (.78 inch), 2.7lb aluminum body that's understated, sophisticated, and should make most Nokia fans very happy -- Nokia fans who are looking for a tiny laptop, anyway. There's a fancy promotional video after the break, and while we don't have any anticipated release date or price just yet, we'll be learning more at Nokia World 09 on September 2.

====================================

A NOTBook from Acer at Best Buy This Week

What else would you call it?

It's really a Notebook at a NETBOOK Price.
====================================

Best Buy was offering an Acer laptop (AS5516-5474) that had been previously listed at $299 for $279.

The specifications: an AMD Athlon TF-20 64 processor, 15.6-inch WXGA display, 2GB DDR2 memory, DVD-RW drive, 160GB hard disk drive, ATI Radeon Xpress 1200 graphics, 802.11b/g wireless, 10/100 Ethernet LAN, and Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic Edition. Pretty close to mainstream-laptop hardware with the exception of the low-end AMD-ATI silicon and the older "g" wireless.

It weighs in at 6 pounds and measures 1.5-inches thick.

Apple: What Have Done For Me Lately?

====================================
Apple iPod 3.0 OS Update that's What...
====================================

Link: http://www.apple.com/iphone/softwareupdate/
=====================================

The Update was pretty easy, after getting my Jailbroken iTouch back to "pristine" condition.

As you probably noticed if you read my
"Between A Rock and A Hard Place" Blog, I'm running Microsoft Vista for the reasons sited there. (And I thought That Life was behind Me...)

The Update Screen on iTunes touted that over 100 "Goodies" would be added in the process.

I'm busy re-installing my old gadgets,
one by one, because of my testing of a JailBroke iPod Touch and that was also the reason for holding back on the OS Upgrade.

The Apple Website pictured and linked above gives a pretty good run-down of those 100 plus "goodies" are all about, so I won't go into them here.

But I have to say I really like the Microphone and the Searchlight Gadget.

Because of the Microphone App, using a special iphone headset with Mike and Headphones terminated with three black rings on the plug you can expect some audio added to this Blog Real-Soon-Now.
