Post 461: Wingman Tells ALL: How I Do My BLOG!

Wingman: How I Do My BLOG!

The BULK of MC2 Blogs are about the Icons Pictured ABOVE

I usually start by Checking Daily Rotation that has a list of the Top Ten
Stories from Over 300 TECH Sites.

You'll notice I have a Link to Daily Rotation on my Favorite MC2 Links on the Right Column.

((Just Added the Daily Rotation News Script on the Right Column too.))

Next I Check Engadget for Pictured New Gadgets that Look Interesting
to Me.

It's My Blog, Remember...

Next, if I have to go that far, I check out RefDesk, a Child-Safe Reference Desk Site

That I recommend to All School Age Students from

Grade School to College.

If I can't find anything worth blogging about from these sites, I fall back

on TV Science Shows like NOVA or magazine-format "News" Shows

like CBS Sunday Morning and 60 minutes.

And Lastly, I refer to my current Books of Interest, which I must admit

runs the Gamut of Topics.

Physics, Marketing, History, Science Fiction, and the occasional

Current Novels People are Talking About,

like an Oprah Pick.
(One in the Last Two Years is OK.)

The Pillars of the Earth.

And Finally, Movies and TV Shows (mostly on USA).

There You Go, my Secrets to My Blogging Ideas.

Wingman, Tells How He Does It.

Need A New "YMAIL" email address?

=============================
According to DailyTech, citing AP:
Yahoo mail has been losing new customers to Google’s Gmail service. According to the AP, Gmail added 30 million users in the last year and has about 101 million users total. Yahoo mail currently has about 266 million users and Microsoft has about 264 million users. Both Yahoo and Microsoft’s mail offerings are growing at a slower rate than Gmail.

...

To address this point Yahoo announced today that starting around 12:00 pm they will begin
registering new email address under the domains “ymail” and “rocketmail”.

The purchase of Four11 Corp back in the late 1990’s included the Rocketmail domain.
...
The new email domains will offer the same features as accounts using the Yahoo email domain. Users wanting to get a new email account can sign up at:

mail.yahoo.com

Pipes, ANS Network and Bernice

Yahoo Pipes:
Yahoo came out swinging a big "pipe" last week to snag back some respectability from Search Leader Rival: Google.

Yahoo Pipes is a Web-based RSS "mash-up" tool that lets you graphically connect Source Information (from one or many rss-feed places), and add a bit of logic or filters and create a "New View" of the RSS data.

They say it's a tip-of-the-hat to Unix Pipes Tools, which for anyone running any recent distro of Linux knows, is alive and well in the Linux OS.

Scripting languages can do pretty much what Yahoo Pipes does, but the Web based GUI is a pretty big deal. It was supposedly developed by Yahoo In-House, and beats Google to a pretty nice New Tool.

REAL Competition IS Good.

==========================================================================
The BOOBs at Network News:

When oh when did they become PEOPLE Magazine?

CNN is now the ANS Channel.

You know what the letters stand for.

One of the cool and needed things you can do with Yahoo Pipes is grab the News RSS feeds and Filter-Out any mention of ANS.

Hopefully the "NETWORKS GONE WILD!" mentality will be over real-soon-now, before any more attention-starved nymphets shave their heads in protest.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bernice and Hair Bobbing:

"Huh! she giggled wildly. "Scalp the selfish thing!"

Quoted from Bernice Bobs Her Hair from the book Flappers and Philosophers.
New York:Scribners.1922.

A title of a short story from high school was "Bernice Bobs Her Hair", and it was mentioned at work recently. And Not having heard that title before I decided to "Look it up".

Wikipedia has become a very good place to start, and was so in this case too. I was surprised to find that it was written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the same writer that gave us the "The Great Gatsby".

Sidenote: (also found on Wikipedia).

Louise Brooks of the film silent era became synoymous with the bobbed or flapper look of the twenties.
