1st Gen iPod is a little over 8 years Old
Friday, October 23, 2009 10:55PM

Apple is so old in the MP3 player market that its already the iPod’s 8th anniversary.

Eight years ago, Apple announced the first iPod, a clunky brick with a click wheel.

The original iPod held only 1,000 songs, weighed 6.5 ounces and synced songs through Firewire, which took a while.

Now, iPod Classics can hold 40x the amount of music and videos than the original, revolutionizing the way we interact with our music libraries.

The Price of Publishing:

10,000 a gallon for Printers Ink?

Wis. college says new e-mail font will save money

A Wisconsin college has found a new way to cut costs with e-mail — by changing the font.

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay has switched the default font on its e-mail system from Arial to Century Gothic.

It says that while the change sounds minor, it will save money on ink when students print e-mails in the new font.

Diane Blohowiak is the school's director of computing. She says the new font uses about 30 percent less ink than the previous one.

That could add up to real savings, since the cost of printer ink works out to about

$10,000 per gallon.

MC2 Post 599: Ubuntu is Officially "A Little Less Human."

Ubuntu is Officially "A Little Less Human."

Like Tiger's "Apology",  it should have been Tweeted First.

It (Ubuntu), was You Tubed, by  Mark Shuttleworth,

Ubuntu's Founder, Yesterday.

Unfortunately there is no info on the new theme, called Lucid

User Interface (and there is no Artwork drop)

A freeze will take place on March 4,

so we should see it in action very soon!

============================

History: July 1. 1984, 25 years ago, Wlliam Gibson wrote a book called

Neuromancer that ran the table at the 1984 Science Fiction Awards

and Won the HUGO Award, the Phillip K. Dick Award and the Nebula Award.

The Book and the Awards said Gibson Created a new genre of Science Fiction

called: CyberPunk.

Gibson does NOT particularly like that phrase, but hey it's a good

tag-line that
doesn't fit anybody better.

And while Gibson's modern prose is anchored
in Present Time his

depiction of cutting edge Technology and Hackers (Good and Bad) is still
razor sharp.

Check him out

He IS a Must Read.

And in deference of the Terminator Picture I used above,

I also found a Cool Clip at YouTube (a great resource, by the way) where in 2006.

Harlan was giving out the Hugo Award for Best Short Story and

still being Harlan at the podium.
