Maybe the name “monster” should be a clue. If not, the nutrition watchdogs at the Center for Science in the Public Interest have news for you: A “Monster” double burger, served with “bottomless” fries and a “Monster” milk shake at the Red Robin burger chain is not very good for you at all.

At 3,540 calories, it’s the “single unhealthiest” meal the group could find on more than 200 chain restaurant menus it reviewed for the 2014 edition of its not-very-coveted Xtreme Eating Awards. The awards go to dishes and combos especially high in calories, fat, sugar and salt.

ZILLOW BUYS TRULIA FOR $3.5 BILLION

Both stocks up more than 90% this year.

 

Real estate listings site Zillow has agreed to purchase Trulia for $3.5 billion in stock, the companies announced in a joint statement.

It's a 25% premium to Trulia's Friday close.

Each Trulia shareholder will get .444 Class-A Zillow shares.

Zillow shares are halted. Trulia is up 16%.

Bloomberg had reported Thursday that Zillow was seeking $2 billion.

Within a couple years, most people will never need to visit the front desk at a Hilton hotel ever again. The company plans to let customers use their smartphones to unlock room doors at most Hilton-owned hotels by the end of 2016. That's over 4,100 properties in all, so it's not entirely surprising that the plan to make plastic key cards obsolete will take some time. But other improvements will arrive sooner, according to The Wall Street Journal.

You may have been hearing about it since yesterday: the new way of profiling your computer (and, with enough other data, you) without leaving either traditional 
cookies or flash cookies on your system.

Those cookies you can get rid of.   The new “evercookie” you can’t even see — although your own system created it on orders from a site or sites you visited.

 

The underlying technique is “canvas fingerprinting.” Here’s some not-too-geeky info on how it works.

I guess the part I like the best is the casual way he presents the Lessons.  Reminds me ofKhan, from Khan Academy.  The Lessons are bite size,  gets thru the steps nice and quick. You can really Learn stuff from this Blender Guru.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Microsoft announced the biggest layoffs in its 39-year history Thursday, outlining plans to cut 18,000 jobs in a move that marked the CEO's sharpest pivot yet away from his predecessor's drive for the company to make its own devices.

Although some cuts had been expected ever since Microsoft acquired Nokia's mobile-device unit, the number amounted to 14 percent of the Microsoft workforce — about twice what analysts had estimated.

BREAKING:    Next Major Version of Android to Finally 

Remove Dalvik and Set ART as Default!

Ever since we first saw ART appear alongside the release of Android 4.4 KitKat, we all knew that it would eventually replace the aging and relatively inefficient Dalvik runtime compiler. Well folks, the time is now upon us, as commits made late last night to the AOSP master branch show Dalvik getting the axe and ART being set as the default.

 

The changes in question are in the form of merged commits 98553 and 98618. The former is responsible for the removal of Dalvik from the AOSP master branch, and the latter switches the default runtime compiler to ART.
