Apple is Buying Beats to Go After Spotify

 




Apple is feeling the heat from streaming services like Spotify and needs more clout with record labels, which is why buying an otherwise boutique audio brand like Beats makes sense.

The news is pretty stunning, if it's true: Apple is reportedly close to a $3.2 billion deal for Beats Electronics, which would make it Cupertino's largest acquisition to date. It's also interesting because Beats recently ended its partnership with HTC, which makes you wonder if Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine had something like this in mind all along.

Apple has cemented rumors of an improved camera with the hiring of the person responsible for the best smartphone camera on the market.

 

According to Engadget, Apple hired Nokia's Senior Lumia engineer Ari Partinen.

 
He tweeted Friday that he will start his new, unspecified job with Apple in June.
