It looks like our nation’s broadband market isn’t quite the duopoly it could be. While about three fourths of the U.S. only has the choice of two providers according to FCC data in the National Broadband Plan, those providers are different on a market by market basis.

A powerful storm system swept up the East Coast on Thursday, leaving in its wake downed power lines, stranded travelers, abandoned vehicles and yet another mess of snow, slush and ice.
The system settled over the New York region early Thursday morning and quickly intensified, creating blizzard-like conditions that grounded thousands of flights and caused widespread delays for buses and trains. By afternoon, the snow had changed to sleet in parts of the city, but weather officials said more snow was expected as evening fell and temperatures dropped.
