Sony has revealed its plans for virtual reality technology on the PlayStation 4. Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Worldwide Studios, showed off a prototype headset at a Game Developers Conference 2014 event entitled Driving the Future of Innovation. "Nothing delivers a feeling of immersion better than VR," said Yoshida. "VR has been a dream of 

many gamers since the computer was invented.

Google senior V.P. Sundar Pichai announced this morning on a blog post a new

project called Android Wear, which he said is Android extended to wearables.

Pichai said Google is working with companies that will make smartwatches based on Android that will ship this year. These companies include: Asus, HTC, LG, Motorola, Samsung and even Fossil. Moments after Google’s announcedment this morning, LG announced a smartwatch called the G Watch. Motorola announced this morning a new smartwatch

A Chinese Apple analyst has claimed the next iPhone will be fitted with sensors which can detect pressure, humidity and temperature.

In a post on her Weibo page, ESM-China's chief analyst Sun Chang Xu said top-ranking fruity sources had told her about Cupertino's plans.

Google provided the following translation of Sun's post*: "A top MEMS [microelectromechanical systems] sensor friend told me that iPhone6 may add a pressure sensor and a temperature and humidity sensor. It seems to be the added plus to go."

Google has slashed its online Drive storage prices so fast, it undercuts all of its rivals – and  its own products.

 

The dramatic price cut for Google Drive was announced on Thursday: storing 100GB of data in its systems per month has fallen from $4.99 to $1.99. Storing a terabyte now costs $9.99 a month versus $49.99 previously, and 10TB will set 

you back $99.99 per month.

 

More intriguingly, the Drive price cut undercuts the $6.30 Google charges for storing 100GB in its mainstream infrastructure-as-a-service Google Cloud Storage.

 

It's rare for a company to undercut itself so dramatically, and there's a good indication Google is about to dramatically lower the price of its mainstream infrastructure pricing.

For one thing, the search supremo is due to hold a major cloud event in San Francisco on March 25 where it promises to announce "a number of new products and services."

The price of an Amazon Prime membership was raised Thursday, but only half as much as the online retailer had said it was considering a month ago.

Amazon (AMZN, Fortune 500) announced the annual membership will now cost $99 a year, up from $79. A student membership will cost $49 annually.

In February, Amazon said it was considering 

raising the price to $119 a year.

HBO GO crashes during 'True Detective' finale

Fans who were trying to watch the much-anticipated finale of True Detective on Sunday night using HBO GO, the cable network's online streaming service, were not happy.

It crashed. All they got was a spinning circle on a black screen.

HBO GO, which usually airs episodes in real time, requires a login and password, and apparently there were just too many logins and passwords being used just as the 9 p.m. hour hit on the East Coast.

Yahoo will gradually stop permitting users to enjoy their online services by logging in with Facebook or Google IDs, according to reports.

Reports indicate Yahoo will eventually remove the option to log in to its services using Facebook and Google login IDs, starting with "Yahoo Sports Tourney Pick 'Em," a service focused on college basketball. The web portal will ask users who want to use photo sharing site Flickr and other Yahoo services to create a new Yahoo ID.

Roku's streaming TV stick is becoming a lot more competitive with the Chromecast.

Beginning today, Roku is selling a new version of the Roku Streaming Stick that costs only $49.99, down from an initial selling price of $99.99 for the original model in 2012. While that's still more expensive than the $35 Chromecast, it'll include access to a robust lineup of channels and apps, all while Google is still just beginning to build out the Chromecast's offerings. The Streaming Stick supports 1080p and now also comes with a remote — though the remote's inclusion of shortcuts to the Blockbuster and M-Go apps is fairly strange beside its Netflix and Amazon buttons.

Reports from TechCrunch suggest that Facebook is interested in buying the drone manufacturer for $60 million and would begin by building 11,000 Solara 60 aircraft to provide internet access in Africa.

Titan Aerospace, a private company with research and development facilities in New Mexico, unveiled its Solara 50 and Solara 60 unmanned aerial vehicles last year, marketing them as extremely cheap alternatives to satellites.

 
The craft can be launched at night powered by an internal battery and once airborne use solar panels embedded into their 160-foot long wingspan to power them. The aircraft have a mission range of over 4 million kilometres and operate at an altitude of 65,000 feet.
